Mint Innovation is a New Zealand cleantech company that has developed an approach that combines chemistry with metal scavenging bacteria to rapidly recover valuable metals from the urban mine. Rich in precious metals the urban mine is a growing resource but also an environmental and humanitarian problem. The Urban Mine is all around us, containing waste stream such as electronic waste and catalytic converter. Mint’s technology can bio-mine resources from the Urban Mine. Mint's technology is scalable, recyclable and cheap and for the first time ever allows resources to be recovered at the source of the urban mine.
